About 617 HVAC
Khalid spent 15 years rescuing failing construction projects-turning around $400K to $8M builds when budget, scope or conflict had broken them. Every job was the same: diagnose what went wrong, fix it and prove it worked.
Then he looked at residential HVAC and saw the same pattern: homeowners paying for five-year top-offs that never fixed the problem, contractors overselling replacements and systems installed on someone else’s mistake that were never corrected. Broken projects. Broken systems. Same diagnosis.
So he built 617 HVAC to do rescue fixing for the homes and people who live here.
Who We Are
617 HVAC is a Greater Boston heating and cooling company. We focus on repair-first diagnostics, written pricing before work begins and documented service you can see. We serve Arlington, Cambridge, Boston and surrounding communities.
Khalid’s Journey
Different roles, one consistent lesson: get the diagnosis right before deciding what comes next.
Started with discipline and standards-the kind that do not bend.
Moved into precision systems, consulting on how medical devices and systems need to work. That phase taught him: if the diagnosis is wrong, everything downstream fails. Get the diagnosis right and the rest follows.
Owned and flipped multifamily properties-gaining hands-on experience with how buildings fail, how systems age and what bad renovation work looks like from the inside.
Became a licensed realtor, learning how homes are bought and sold and what homeowners worry about when they evaluate a system or decide whether to replace it.
Became a certified project manager, studied building systems and managed complex construction work. When projects went sideways, he pulled them back into budget, scope or schedule. Performance-based pay meant the fix had to be real.
Carried that expertise across $400K to $8 million commercial and residential builds. Every broken project started with a misdiagnosis or a skipped step. Fix the diagnosis and everything else becomes possible.
Recognized the same pattern in HVAC: systems other contractors had not diagnosed correctly, unnecessary replacements and a business built on commission instead of fixing what is actually broken.
Why 617. Why Here.
While other companies try to become national brands, franchises or everything to everybody, 617 HVAC chose to be great in the community where we live.
617 is the area code. It is not marketing shorthand-it is a statement. We are from here. We understand the people, the homes, the winters, the summers and the frustration of hiring someone who does not show up or who overcharges and underdelivers.
We are not trying to expand to 50 states. We are trying to be the company your neighbor recommends because we did right by them.
Fix what is broken before selling what is new.
Invest here, hire here and understand the homes and neighbors we serve.
The system that heats and cools also moves the air your family breathes.
Measured checkups and early catches beat emergencies and guessing.
Where We’re Going
We pair experienced master craftspeople with motivated apprentices-teaching the standard, sending them to school and building a team that gets better every year instead of burning through temporary technicians. The work only lasts if it is taught. We are committed to building people as much as we are committed to building the right system for your home.
Job Proof
Every 617 HVAC visit produces its own evidence: photos, readings and video. These documented comparisons show what was found and what changed on real jobs.
