In 2026, Mass Save offers the following rebates for qualifying heat pump installations:
Whole-Home Heat Pump Rebate: $2,650 per ton, maximum $8,500
Partial-Home Heat Pump Rebate: $1,125 per ton, maximum $8,500
0% HEAT Loan: Up to $25,000 in financing
To qualify, equipment must use R-32 or R-454B refrigerant. R-410A equipment is no longer eligible as of January 1, 2026. Systems must be installed by December 31, 2026.
617 HVAC is Mass Save certified. We coordinate the rebate process and apply it at point of sale — you pay the rebate-discounted price immediately, not after a reimbursement process. Federal IRA tax credits for heat pumps expired at the end of 2025, but the Mass Save program remains in full effect.
A furnace heats only. A heat pump heats in winter and cools in summer — one system doing two jobs. Heat pumps qualify for Mass Save rebates. Furnaces don't.
Modern cold-climate heat pumps operate efficiently at -15°F. Boston winters average 20 to 30°F — well within the operating range. The efficiency argument for heat pumps in Massachusetts is strong and getting stronger as equipment improves.
For a home replacing a failing furnace that also needs cooling, a heat pump conversion after Mass Save rebates is often less expensive than a new furnace alone — and delivers more. We show you the comparison in writing. The decision is yours.
The Lexington family's situation wasn't unusual. Most Boston homeowners replacing a furnace don't know about heat pump conversion because most contractors don't bring it up. The margin on a straight furnace replacement is simpler. The Mass Save coordination takes work.
We did the work. We ran their load calculation, assessed their electrical capacity, coordinated with our affiliated electrical contractors for the panel upgrade, and navigated the Mass Save process. The rebate applied at closing — they paid the net price, not the gross price.
They are now on our Vital maintenance plan. Four visits per year, priority scheduling, quarterly inspections. Their heat pump is maintaining both heating and cooling with lower monthly energy costs than their old gas furnace.

A new heating system is a multi-year investment. Maintenance is what protects it.
Our maintenance plans start at $60 per month and include priority scheduling and annual credits toward equipment. The annual credits accumulate — a customer on the Vital plan for five years builds $6,000 in credits toward their next system purchase.
