Ductless Mini Split Repair
Mini splits are being installed by everyone now: electricians, plumbers, handymen, and general contractors who watched a YouTube video. Installation looks simple. Running two refrigerant lines and mounting a wall unit takes a few hours. The problem is what comes next. Proper mini split installation requires correct connection sealing, accurate refrigerant charging, electrical work that matches the system's specifications, and a drainage setup that handles condensate without causing water damage. An Arlington customer had a mini split installed by an electrician. It ran fine for a year. Then cooling dropped gradually. By the time she called us, the system was working at a fraction of its capacity. The cause was a refrigerant leak from an improperly sealed connection. The solution was not adding refrigerant. It was finding the leak, fixing it permanently, and recharging to spec.

We own a two-family in Cambridge. When we renovated the second and third floor unit, we needed to add air conditioning. Traditional ductwork meant soffits: dropping the ceilings by six to eight inches in a building that already had lower ceilings than we wanted. Mini splits were an option, but we did not want wall-mounted units compromising an interior design we had worked to get right. We chose a Unico high velocity system. Two-inch flexible tubing routed through existing wall cavities and floor joist bays during the renovation. Small five-inch round ceiling outlets that blend into the architecture. No soffits. No visible wall units. Full central air conditioning on two floors.
